Young Sabrina is the daughter of Thomas Fairchild, chauffeur to the wealthy Larrabee family, a girl all her life in love with the Larrabees' younger son, David. David is a good-natured but somewhat spoilt bachelor, a playboy and womaniser who has never noticed Sabrina, considering her just a naive girl. But when she returns from Paris after two years of training as a top chef, David is confronted by a stunningly attractive young woman.
Although he is engaged to the wealthy heiress Elizabeth Tyson, the daughter of the “sugar king”, David soon finds himself drawn to Sabrina. This, however, frightens his brother Linus, an ambitious businessman who sees the potential ruin of David's marriage to Elizabeth as a threat to his own successful company. Therefore, Linus decides to divert Sabrina's attention to himself, not realising that he will fall in love with her too.

Head won a record eight Oscars for costume design, and received a total of thirty-five nominations, making her the most-nominated woman in the history of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
