Hud is the selfish and arrogant son of the hard-working and principled Texan rancher, Homer Bannon. Lonnie Bannon is Homer's grandson and Hud's nephew, the son of his older brother Norman, who was killed in a traffic accident. He is a teenager torn between siding with his grandfather or his uncle in their conflict. Also part of the household is the housekeeper Alma, whom Hud has his eye on. The conflict between Hud and his father culminates when a dangerous viral disease breaks out among their herd…
