Dokukino Ether: The season is coming!

For the final spring edition of the Dokukino Ether programme, a maritime pre-summer diptych has been prepared! On Wednesday 17 June at 7 pm, accompanied by a discussion, two documentaries by director Tonći Gaćina will be screened: Tourism! and Goats!, which address the exploitation of natural resources and offer a critical look at Adriatic off-season daily life.

After the screening, there will be a discussion with the director, Tonći Gaćina. The discussion will be moderated by Tereza Kelam (Radio Student) and Sara Panjkota (Radio Student, Club of Students of the Faculty of Political Science).

Tourism is the last straw for the Croatian economy. This documentary follows stories from the Croatian Adriatic and explores how tourism is developing today.

The film was screened in the Future Frames programme at the Karlovy Vary International Film Festival in 2016.

Goats!
Director: Tonći Gaćina

After the collapse of a state project to develop local livestock farming, several hundred goats were left behind on the remote island of Unije. The local population can no longer cope with these goats, which have been left to fend for themselves for decades. How will we face this seemingly wild nature?

The film had its world premiere in the competition programme Pardi di domani at the Locarno Festival in 2025.

Tonći Gaćina was born in Split in 1983. In 2010, he graduated from the Academy of Arts in Split, in Film and Video. In the same year, he enrolled in the Postgraduate Film and TV Directing programme at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb, specialising in Documentary Film. Filmography: Goats!
