A music journalist from New York sets out to uncover the truth about the mysterious disappearance of the young Brazilian piano virtuoso, Tenorio Jr. The film is the celebrated origin story of the world-famous Latin American musical movement, bossa nova.
They Shot the Pianist chronicles a fleeting period of creative freedom at a crossroads in Latin American history in the 1960s and 70s, just before the continent was engulfed by totalitarian regimes.
